Do you like being an IC (individual contributor) or a manager?

For many companies like Microsoft, etc, there usually is two career tracks, IC track and manager track.

Primarily a lot of engineers do not like manage people, like to work on code, but they need a career path to grow also. While manager's duties include coaching and grow other people, and at high enough sometimes managers no longer code himself.

What is your preference and why?
