Zapp Chess skips the part of chess most people don't have time for. Every game starts from a curated middlegame position, so you're straight into tactics instead of building up an opening.
How a game works
You're matched against real people, not bots. There's no opening theory to memorize — games are decided by tactics from the position you're given. A game ends when either side reaches a two-point material lead (pawn = 1, knight = 3, bishop = 3, rook = 5, queen = 9), or by checkmate. Games typically finish in about 3 minutes, and each move is played on your own time.
No opening study needed
Since every game starts mid-position, there's nothing to memorize before you play. You just read the board and look for the best tactic.
