Job portals want one PDF. Your iPhone gives you HEIC files. And you definitely don't want to upload scans of your ID or certificates to a random converter site. Here's the safe path.
Why the usual route is risky
Application documents often include the most sensitive files you own: ID scans, diplomas, certificates. Most free "HEIC to PDF" sites upload everything to their servers first — fine for vacation photos, not for identity documents.
The no-upload method
- Open a converter that processes files locally: convert HEIC photos into a clean PDF for job applications
- Add your HEIC scans in order (ID front/back, diploma, certificates)
- Download the single PDF and attach it to the application
Because conversion runs in your browser tab, your documents never traverse the network. Verify this yourself: open your browser's devtools network tab while converting — you'll see no file uploads.
Checklist before you hit submit
- Pages in the right order, all the right way up
- PDF is text-searchable where it matters (keep originals too)
- File size sane for upload limits (re-export at reasonable quality if needed)
Disclosure: I'm the developer of FileOnTap. For job applications specifically, the privacy property isn't a nice-to-have — it's the whole point.
