What’s difference between The Internet and The Web ?

Do many folks consider that they both are the same but are they really the same?

Defining the Internet:

The Internet, short for "interconnected networks," is the foundational infrastructure that enables global communication and data exchange. It is a vast, decentralized network of computers, servers, and networks spanning the entire globe. Every device connected to the Internet becomes part of this colossal web of interconnected nodes.

How the Internet Started:

A long time ago, researchers created the Internet's first version, called ARPANET. Over time, it grew into the vast network we know today.

Key Characteristics of the Internet:

Several fundamental characteristics distinguish the Internet:

Decentralization: No central authority controls the Internet; it relies on distributed networks.

Redundancy: Multiple pathways and connections ensure data can flow even if some parts of the network fail.

Scalability: The Internet can accommodate an ever-increasing number of devices and users.

Universality: It is a global network, accessible from virtually anywhere on the planet.

Defining the World Wide Web (Web):

The World Wide Web, often referred to as the "Web," is a subset of the Internet. It is a system of interconnected documents and resources, accessible through web browsers. These documents can contain text, images, videos, and interactive elements.

The Birth of the Web:

The Web's history is closely tied to the work of Sir Tim Berners-Lee, who invented the Web in 1989. His contributions include:

The creation of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP).

The development of the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML).

The introduction of the first web browser, WorldWideWeb.

Key Characteristics of the Web:

Key characteristics of the Web include:

Use of URLs (Uniform Resource Locators) to specify the location of web content.

Hypertext linking, allowing documents to link to other related documents.

The integration of multimedia content, from images to streaming videos.

User-friendly interfaces that make browsing and accessing information intuitive.

Other Internet Services:**

Besides the Web, the Internet hosts various services and applications:

Email services enable electronic mail exchange.

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) allows the transfer of files between devices.

Online gaming platforms provide a means for multiplayer gaming.

Video conferencing tools facilitate real-time communication and collaboration.
