I Built Elvorro: Free Privacy-First Browser Tools for PDFs, Images, OCR, and Invoices

As developers, freelancers, and small business owners, we often need to do small file-related tasks during the day:

Compress an image before uploading it
Extract text from a screenshot
Generate a quick invoice
Convert or work with PDF files
Resize or process documents without opening heavy software

There are already many tools for this, but I kept running into the same problems

Forced signups
Slow pages
Unclear privacy
Uploading sensitive files to unknown servers
One tool per website instead of one simple toolkit

So I built Elvorro.

👉 Elvorro

What is Elvorro?

Elvorro is a free collection of browser-based tools for everyday file, document, image, OCR, and productivity tasks.

The goal is simple:

Make common file tasks fast, accessible, and privacy-friendly.

It includes tools like:

Image to text / OCR
Image compression
Invoice generator
PDF tools
Document utilities
Text and productivity tools

Instead of installing software or creating an account, you can open the tool, complete the task, and move on.

Why browser-based tools?

For many common tasks, sending files to a server is not always necessary.

For example, if you want to compress an image, extract text from a screenshot, or generate an invoice, a lot of that can be handled directly in the browser, depending on the tool.

This has a few benefits:

  1. Better privacy

Many people use online tools for invoices, IDs, screenshots, documents, and business files without thinking about where those files are uploaded.

A browser-first approach helps reduce unnecessary server-side file handling.

  1. Faster workflow

You do not need to install a desktop app, create an account, or go through a complicated dashboard.

Just open the tool and use it.

  1. Useful for developers and non-developers

Developers often need quick utilities while working, but the same tools are also useful for students, freelancers, accountants, marketers, and small businesses.

Example use cases

Here are some practical examples:

Create branded mockups with your logo

This tool lets you apply your logo or design onto a mockup directly from the browser. It is useful when you want to quickly preview how your brand would look on a product, device, packaging, or marketing visual.

Instead of opening a heavy design tool just for a quick preview, you can upload your mockup, add your logo, adjust it, and export the result.

This can be useful for:

Startup landing pages
Product presentations
Client previews
Social media posts
Branding concepts
Portfolio visuals

Tool:

Free Mockup Generator - Add Your Logo to Product Mockups | Elvorro

Create realistic product mockups for free. Pick a blank coffee cup, can, t-shirt, tote, box, and more, add your logo, and download a branded PNG. Browser-based and private.

Extract text from an image

You have a screenshot, scanned document, or photo with text inside it.

Instead of typing it manually, you can use the OCR tool to extract the text.

Tool:

Image to Text Converter (OCR) - CV & Photo Text Reader | Elvorro

Free online OCR tool. Extract text from images, screenshots, and scanned CVs/resumes in your browser. Private, no uploads, no sign-up.

Generate an invoice

If you are a freelancer or small business owner, sometimes you just need to generate a clean invoice quickly without setting up a full accounting system.

Tool:

Free Invoice Generator - Create & Download Invoice PDFs | Elvorro

Create professional invoices online for free. Add your business, client, line items, and tax, then download a clean PDF invoice. Private and browser-based.

What I learned while building it

Building a tools website sounds simple at first, but there are many small product decisions:

Tool UX matters a lot

A utility tool should not feel like a SaaS dashboard.

The best experience is usually:

Open the page
Upload/select/input data
Get the result
Download/copy/export

No unnecessary steps.

Privacy messaging matters

If a tool processes files in the browser, users should know that clearly.

Most users do not think deeply about client-side vs server-side processing, so the UI needs to explain it in simple language.

SEO is competitive

The “free online tools” space is very competitive.

To make a new tools website useful, it needs a clearer angle than just “free tools.”

For Elvorro, the direction is:

Free privacy-first browser tools for everyday file tasks.

What I plan to add next

I am planning to keep improving Elvorro with more useful tools, especially around:

PDF utilities
Image tools
OCR improvements
Developer utilities
Business document tools
More embeddable widgets
Feedback

I would love feedback from the Dev.to the community.

What kind of small browser-based tools do you use regularly?

And what tools would you like to see added next?
