Hi everyone,
I am a 13-year-old developer from India, and I wanted to share my project, RedSeaOS (https://redseaos.org).
My original goal was to make RedSeaOS a completely independent Linux distribution built entirely from scratch. However, because I am just a kid, I have a lot of things to handle at home, including school and homework. Trying to build a fully independent distro by myself right now takes up too much time and makes it very hard to manage my schoolwork.
To keep the project alive without hurting my grades, I decided to use a rock-solid Debian base for versions 1, 2, and 3. This lets me focus on the parts I am passionate about creating right now. Once I get older and have a stronger foundation, my long-term plan is to transition RedSeaOS into a completely independent Linux distribution built from scratch!
The project is currently under the codename "Origin" (v1.0-dev) and features:
• Apex Desktop Environment: A custom, lightweight desktop environment built on GNOME technologies.
• Shift: A custom package manager I am actively developing.
I wanted to share my story and get the project out there early. I would love any advice from older developers on how to balance school and coding, or any thoughts you have on the project!
