OpenAI Just Dropped GPT Image 1.5 — I Built https://gptimages.app to Try It for Free
Yesterday (December 16, 2025), OpenAI quietly rolled out GPT Image 1.5, their new flagship image generation and editing model. It's now live in ChatGPT for everyone (even free users) and available via API.
What's new in GPT Image 1.5?
- 4x faster generation
- Significantly better prompt following and precise editing (change one element without breaking the rest)
- Much improved text rendering — finally reliable for logos, posters, and marketing assets
- Stronger character consistency across multiple generations
- Lower API costs (20% cheaper input/output)
It's clearly OpenAI's answer to Google's recent Nano Banana Pro push, and early tests show it's incredibly good at commercial-grade visuals.
As soon as the announcement hit, I wanted to play with it — but I didn't want to keep switching to ChatGPT or deal with rate limits.
So I built https://gptimages.app — a simple, dedicated web app focused purely on GPT Image 1.5:
Features
- Free text-to-image and image-to-image generation (no login required to start)
- Fast, clean interface with no watermarks
- Natural language editing (e.g., "change the background to night while keeping the subject exactly the same")
- Prompt examples and showcase gallery
- Optional Pro tier for unlimited generations and priority speed
If you're searching for "gpt images", "gpt image 1.5", or "chatgpt new image model" — this is the quickest way to try the new model right now.
👉 Try it here: https://gptimages.app
Feedback very welcome! I'm actively improving it based on user input.
What do you think — is GPT Image 1.5 finally beating the competition in practical use cases?
