What is cloud computing ☁️ ??

Cloud computing is a way of using technology to access data, services, and resources over the internet, rather than having them stored on your own computer or device. This allows for greater flexibility and scalability, as well as the ability to access your files and programs from anywhere with an internet connection.

Is Cloud computing a new term 🫣?

• Cloud computing is not a new term
• We use cloud computing in our daily life as well.
• Take example of Gmail & Google photos that we use. We don't store the data of Gmail in our phone. It is stored somewhere far from us which exactly matches with our cloud computing definition.

Deployment models in cloud 👨‍🔬

In simple words, deployment models in cloud computing refer to the different ways in which an organization can use cloud services, whether it's publicly, privately or a combination of both.

There are three main types of cloud deployment models: public, private, and hybrid.

• Public cloud: refers to cloud services that are made available to the general public over the internet. These services are owned and operated by a third-party cloud service provider like (AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Private cloud: refers to cloud services that are used exclusively by a single organization. These services can be operated by the organization itself or by a third-party cloud service provider.

• Hybrid cloud: refers to a combination of both public and private cloud services. This allows an organization to use the best of both worlds by taking advantage of the cost savings of public cloud services and the security and control of private cloud services.

Types of Cloud computing 👨‍🔧

There are three main types of cloud computing: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).

• Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is a type of cloud computing that provides virtualized computing resources over the internet. This includes virtual machines, storage, and networking. With IaaS, customers can rent computing resources on-demand, without having to invest in physical infrastructure.

• Platform as a Service (PaaS) is a type of cloud computing that provides a platform for customers to develop, run, and manage their own applications. PaaS providers typically handle the underlying infrastructure, such as servers and storage, while customers are responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining their own applications.

• Software as a Service (SaaS) is a type of cloud computing that provides customers with access to software applications over the internet. With SaaS, customers can use software without having to install it on their own computers, and can access their data and applications from any device with an internet connection.

In simple words, IaaS is like renting computer hardware, PaaS is like renting a platform to build software, SaaS is like renting software on demand, all over the internet.

• Broad network access available over the network

• Multiple customers can share the same infrastructure

• Quickly and easily scale on demand

• Users can pay for what they used for

• Reduced total cost of ownership and operational expense

• Stop spending money on maintaining and owning data centers
