If you've been anywhere near Indian tech Twitter (X.com) or LinkedIn lately, you've probably heard people asking the same question over and over: why doesn't India have a social platform that's actually built for India — its languages, its communities, its way of connecting?
That's the gap Desh Via is going after.
What is Desh Via?
Desh Via bills itself as India's Social Community — a place to connect with people, share posts, and join communities that actually reflect how Indians talk to each other, not a copy-pasted template of a Western platform.
It's still early days for the product (you can go check it out live right now at https://desh-via.vercel.app/ ), but the direction is clear: build a home-grown social space where community, not just content, is the center of gravity.
Who's behind it
Desh Via is the brainchild of @pratyush_ranjan_roul , Founder & Chief Architect, who's been designing and building the product from the ground up.
I'm Akhouri Anmol Kumar, and I recently joined the team as Head of Growth & Partnerships. This post is me doing exactly that job — getting the word out to the dev.to community about what we're building, because I think this is a project worth watching (and worth your feedback).
Why I think this is worth your attention
As developers, we're usually the first ones to poke holes in a new social app — and that's a good thing. Early, honest feedback from builders is exactly what shapes a product before it scales. So consider this less of a "look at our thing" post and more of an open invitation:
