Have You Checked If AI Engines Cite Your Site?
Here's a 2-minute exercise that might surprise you.
Open three tabs:
In each one, type:
"What is [your product/company name] and what does it do?"
Then try:
"What are the best tools for [your product category]?"
What to look for:
- Does the AI mention you at all?
- Is the information accurate?
- Does it link to your site?
- Does it confuse you with something else?
Most developers I've talked to have never done this. And most are surprised by the results — either their project is completely invisible, or the AI is confidently stating wrong information about it.
This is the starting point for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO): understanding how AI engines currently perceive your content, and then systematically improving that.
I'd love to hear your results. Drop a comment:
- What did the AI say about your project?
- Was it accurate?
- Were you cited or invisible?
I'm writing a series on practical GEO techniques for developers. Knowing what you're seeing in the wild will help me focus on the right problems.
