How to Generate and Save Unique Passwords When You Sign Up for Websites in 2026

A new account should not need a password you have already used elsewhere. OGAD (Off Grid AI Desktop) can generate a password on your computer and let you use it in a signup form through the paired browser extension. You can then save the login in its local Vault.

This guide covers the desktop Pro Vault and the browser extension. The desktop app must be running, the browser must be paired, and the Vault must be unlocked. Opening the website still needs the network that website normally uses.

What does the password generator do?

The Vault generator creates passwords with the desktop's random-number tools. It does not ask a language model to invent a memorable secret. You can use it without loading a chat model.

The generator has three modes: Random, Say it, and Passphrase. Choose a mode that fits the site's rules, then set Length or Words. A site with a short maximum length needs a different choice from an account that accepts a long passphrase.

The result stays a draft until you use it and save the account. Generating a password does not create an account, submit a form, or prove that a website accepted it.

Set up the local Vault first

Install OGAD and follow the browser extension setup. Open the Vault in OGAD and finish its setup before you start the signup form. Keep the recovery information in a place you can reach if the computer is unavailable.

Pair the extension with the intended desktop. Check that its Vault opens only after you unlock the desktop Vault. If the extension is connected to another computer, a password saved there will not be in this computer's Vault.

Use a test account for the first attempt. This lets you learn the save-and-fill flow before you change a login you need for work.

Generate and fill one new password

  1. Open the real signup page in your browser. Check the website address.
  2. Open the extension's Vault and choose Password generator.
  3. Select the mode and length allowed by the site.
  4. Choose Regenerate if you need a new value.
  5. Choose Use on this page to fill supported new-password fields.
  6. Review the form, including any repeated password field, before you submit it.

Copy password is also available when a site's field cannot be filled. Use the copied value only in the intended password field. There is no reason to paste it into an AI conversation to ask whether it is strong enough.

If the website rejects the chosen format, change the generator options and make a fresh value. Do not shorten it by removing an arbitrary section and then forget which version the account accepted.

Save the login after the site accepts it

Complete the site's signup steps first. When the browser offers to save the new login, check the account name and website. Save the accepted password with the username you actually used.

You can also create a login item in the Vault. Give it a useful Name, enter Websites, Username, and Password, then choose Save. A name such as “Example project — work account” makes two accounts at the same service easier to distinguish.

Keep the signup page available until you have checked the saved item. If the account requires email verification, finish that process too. A saved Vault item and an active website account are separate things.

Check that the saved login works

Sign out of the test account, then return to its login page. Open the saved item and choose Fill on this page. Review the username before you submit.

A successful second sign-in is a useful end-to-end check for you to perform. It confirms that the accepted credential, account name, and website were saved together. The instructions here describe the released workflow; they are not a claim that every website's form has been tested.

For an existing account, use the site's password-change page. Updating only the Vault item does not change the password on the website. Keep the old value available until the site confirms the change, then update the saved item and check a new sign-in.

Why can filling be refused?

Symptom What to check Next step
Vault is unavailable Desktop connection and lock state Reconnect and unlock the intended Vault
No field is filled Page and field type Open the actual signup form; copy manually if needed
Page changed since selection Current website address Reopen the item on the correct page
A frame or form is rejected Where the form sends its data Check the site's normal sign-in route

The extension does not fill every visible rectangle. It checks the page and form context and can reject insecure pages, hidden fields, or forms that cross an origin boundary. Do not treat a refusal as a request to disable those checks.

What remains on your computer?

The saved entry belongs to the local desktop Vault. This browser workflow is not a claim that passwords sync to every phone or to a cloud password service. Locking the desktop Vault also removes access to open Vault entries in the browser.

Start with one low-risk signup: set up OGAD, generate a unique value, save the accepted login, and check it with a fresh sign-in.
