Some notes belong in a locked place, not a general chat or scratch document. OGAD (Off Grid AI Desktop) includes Secure Note entries in its encrypted local Vault. Give the note a title, store its body, and reveal the text when you need it on your computer.
This can be useful for private setup instructions, software licence details, or a personal reference you want to keep outside an ordinary notes folder. Vault is a Pro feature on Mac and Windows. Its local storage does not require an AI model or a cloud notes service.
What makes a Secure Note different?
A Secure Note stores text inside the encrypted vault rather than making it part of an ordinary AI conversation. The title helps you find it. The body is kept out of the entry-list response and is retrieved when you explicitly reveal the note.
That distinction is useful when a note contains several related details rather than a single password. You can keep the instructions together without squeezing them into a username field.
Use the dedicated API Key or Web Login types when they fit the content better. A Secure Note is useful when the important thing is the text itself.
The workflow is present in OGAD 0.0.51, including its released Windows Pro package.
Write a title that helps without exposing the contents
The title is visible in the unlocked vault list and is used for finding entries. Give it enough context to identify the note without putting the private information into the title itself.
For example:

A note called “Setup” is hard to find later. A title containing a secret defeats the purpose of keeping that value in the protected body. Use a clear middle ground.
Keep the note focused on one subject. Several small, well-named entries can be easier to retrieve than one long note containing unrelated information.
Getting started
Create the vault, save its recovery phrase safely, and add a small test note. Then verify that you can find and reveal it after locking and unlocking the vault.
- Open Vault with Pro active.
- Create and confirm a master password if this is the first use.
- Store the displayed recovery phrase somewhere safe outside the vault.
- Choose New entry → Secure Note.
- Enter a Title and the text in Notes, then select Save.
- Use Lock vault, unlock it, find the title, and reveal the note.
Try a harmless sentence first, such as “This is my test note.” Once the flow is familiar, add the private text you intended to store.
To edit a saved secure note, reveal it first, then use Edit. This keeps the protected body out of the ordinary list until you choose to access it.
Find the note without opening everything
Use Search or the Secure Notes category to narrow the list. Choose a title that matches the subject, then reveal that entry. You do not need to browse the full contents of every note.
This is title-based organization, not a promise that an AI model semantically searches your locked secrets. The point of the vault is controlled access to stored data.
When you update a note, keep its purpose clear. If the entry records setup instructions, add a short date when those instructions change. You can understand whether the note is still relevant without creating a separate unencrypted change log.
What happens when you copy or export the text?
Copied text leaves the vault and enters the system clipboard. The destination app and any clipboard-history tools can then receive it. Vault encryption protects the stored database, not every later copy.
Check clipboard capture and sync before copying sensitive text. OGAD provides Capture clipboard in Clipboard settings; disable it when you do not want a copied secret saved there. Also consider other clipboard tools running on the computer.
Keep the vault locked when you finish. Revealing a note is a deliberate access step, and Lock vault closes the unlocked vault session. Do not treat a hidden note field as a replacement for locking the computer when you leave it.
Can you open the note without internet?
Yes, once OGAD, Pro access, and the vault are set up on the computer. Opening the local encrypted database and reading an entry do not need a cloud notes account or a downloaded AI model.
The database uses your master password and a device-derived key. Keep the recovery phrase and suitable backups of the vault data. A lost phrase is not something the article can regenerate, and a phrase alone cannot reconstruct deleted vault data.
If you move to another computer, use the supported recovery path with the required files. Do not assume copying only the database creates a normal unlockable vault on the new device.
Give one private note a proper home
Download OGAD, create a Secure Note, and check that you can find it after a lock-and-unlock cycle. Use a clear title and keep the sensitive text in the body. You can then return to it locally when needed, without adding it to a cloud notes service.
