LastPass is a well-known password manager with family sharing and autofill on computers and phones. It is also an account. Your encrypted vault is stored with LastPass, and it syncs to every device you use.
Off Grid AI Desktop (OGAD) Pro includes Vault. It keeps passwords, API keys, notes and files encrypted in one place. There is no account and no server copy: the vault lives only on your computer, and only you unlock it. It comes in the same Pro key as AI, memory and meetings, and you pay once.

What LastPass said about its 2022 security incident
LastPass described the incident on its own notice of security incident page and in a March 2023 update. In its own words and dates:
- 25 August 2022. LastPass said an unauthorized party took portions of source code and technical information from its development environment.
- 15 September 2022. LastPass said it found no evidence of access to customer data or encrypted vaults in that incident.
- 30 November 2022. LastPass said it found activity in a third-party cloud storage service it shares with its affiliate GoTo.
- 22 December 2022. LastPass said the attacker copied "a backup of customer vault data". Website usernames and passwords were encrypted. Some data, such as website URLs, was not. LastPass said the master password "is never known to LastPass".
- 1 March 2023. LastPass said the attacker targeted a senior DevOps engineer through vulnerable third-party software. It said it had seen no attacker activity since 26 October 2022.
The point for this comparison is where copies live. A cloud vault has a copy on the vendor's systems and in its backups. Off Grid AI Vault has no copy on our servers. That moves the job to you: keep a strong master password, keep your recovery phrase safe and back up the vault file yourself.
What it costs over three years
At LastPass's listed yearly prices:
| 1 year | 3 years | |
|---|---|---|
| LastPass Premium | $36.00 | $108.00 |
| LastPass Families | $48.00 | $144.00 |
| Off Grid AI Pro, lifetime | $79.99 | $79.99 |
For a password manager alone, LastPass costs less in year one and two. Off Grid AI Pro is not only a vault. The same price covers the rest of Pro below.
How Vault works
- Open Vault in OGAD and set a master password.
- Save the 24-word recovery phrase somewhere safe. With the vault file and its recovery data, it lets you back in if you forget the password.
- Add logins, payment cards, API keys, secure notes and files. Everything is encrypted on your disk.
- Lock it when you finish. Only you can unlock it.
- To fill logins in Chrome, request the browser extension and pair it with the desktop app.
Moving from LastPass? The browser Vault has an Import from LastPass option for a LastPass CSV export. Import a small sample first, check the records, then delete the CSV. Run the Security check to find weak and reused passwords.
Your vault works with your AI agent
Off Grid Vault fills logins in your own browser, matched to the website's domain. Off Grid's Web Use runs agent tasks in that same signed-in browser. So an agent task can sign in without you pasting a password into a chat, and the password never goes to a model. Web Use and Computer Use are Pro features.
What else the same key covers
- Memory. Screens, meetings, mail and documents become one local memory you can search and ask.
- Meetings without a bot. Calls recorded, transcribed and summarised on your computer.
- Actions you approve. Replies and issues through Gmail, Linear, Jira and Notion.
- God, Reflect and Clipboard. A morning brief, time by project and person, and a searchable clipboard.
- Sync. Your phone and computer in sync, encrypted, device to device.
One key covers up to 5 devices.
When LastPass is the better pick
For many people, LastPass is the easier password manager. Its paid plans work on all your devices, computers and phones. Save and autofill come with every plan. It can create, store and manage passkeys from its browser extension or mobile app. Families gives 6 people their own vaults with shared folders. Off Grid AI Vault does not fill passwords on your phone and has no family plan.
If you need passwords on your phone or shared with family, LastPass fits better. If you want your secrets in a vault that has no copy on anyone's server, next to your API keys and private files, use Off Grid AI Vault.

FAQ
How much does LastPass cost?
On 30 October 2026, LastPass lists Premium at $3.00 a month and Families at $4.00 a month for 6 users, both billed yearly. The Free plan works on one device type, computer or mobile.
What happened in the LastPass 2022 security incident?
LastPass says an attacker took source code in August 2022, then used that information to copy a backup of customer vault data from third-party cloud storage. LastPass says usernames and passwords in that backup were encrypted, and website URLs were not.
Do I need an account for Off Grid AI Vault?
No. Vault lives in Off Grid AI Desktop on your computer. You unlock it with a master password, and you can recover it with a 24-word recovery phrase.
Can I move my passwords from LastPass to Off Grid AI?
Yes. The browser Vault has an Import from LastPass option that reads a LastPass CSV export. Check the imported records, then delete the CSV, because it holds readable passwords.
Can Off Grid AI fill passwords in my browser?
Yes, in Chrome, through the Off Grid AI browser extension, which is available by request. The desktop app must be running, paired and unlocked. LastPass autofill works in more places, including phones.
