Msty Studio is a polished workspace for local and cloud models. It has Knowledge Stacks, split chats, personas and a Media Studio. To unlock its full feature set, Msty's pricing page lists Aurum at $149 per user a year, or $349 per user once.

Off Grid AI does the private workspace part for free. Pro then adds a memory of your whole workday and actions you approve, for $79.99 once, on up to 5 devices. That includes your phone, with models that run on it.

What it costs over three years

1 year 3 years
Msty Aurum, per user $149 $447
Msty Aurum Lifetime, per user $349 $349
Off Grid AI Pro, lifetime, 5 devices $79.99 $79.99

Msty's prices are per user. Off Grid's key is per person and covers up to 5 devices, such as a work laptop, a home desktop and your phone.

Where Msty is strong

Msty gives you a lot of model choice. Its docs say Studio Desktop runs local models through Ollama, MLX and llama.cpp. It also connects hosted providers, and Aurum adds Azure and Bedrock. Studio has split chats to run models side by side, and personas that can share one thread.

It also runs on more desktop hardware. The Studio page lists Apple silicon and Intel Macs, x64 and ARM64 Windows, and Linux. OGAD's Mac build is for Apple silicon only.

For companies, Msty sells a suite: Go for agents, Nexus as a model gateway and Stack for governed knowledge, which is marked "Coming soon".

What Off Grid adds: a memory of your day

Msty's Knowledge Stacks answer from files you add. Off Grid Projects do that too, for free. Pro goes one step further. It builds the memory for you, from the work you already do.

  • Memory. Screens, meetings, mail and documents become one local memory. Ask a question and get the answer with its source.
  • Meetings without a bot. OGAD records the call's audio and your microphone, then transcribes and summarises on your computer.
  • Actions you approve. It drafts replies and issues through Gmail, Linear, Jira and Notion. Nothing goes out without your yes.
  • God, your chief of staff. A morning brief, meeting prep with notes from last time, and the to-dos people owe you.
  • Reflect, Vault, Clipboard and Sync. Where your day went, encrypted passwords and files, a searchable clipboard, and device-to-device sync.

You don't build a knowledge base first. You work, and Off Grid remembers.

A phone app that runs models itself

Msty's Go page says you can "keep control from desktop or mobile". The mobile role it describes is checking progress and approving decisions. It does not list models that run on the phone.

Off Grid AI Mobile (OGAM) runs its own on-device models on iPhone and Android. It works offline. At home, it can also use the bigger model on your computer. With Pro, Sync carries chats and Projects between them, device to device.

When Msty is the better pick

Pick Msty if you want many cloud providers and local engines in one window, side-by-side model comparison, or an Intel Mac. Pick it if your company wants a managed suite with SSO, role-based access and an audit log, which Msty lists for Enterprise and Teams.

Pick Off Grid if you want the assistant to know your meetings, mail and screens, act after your yes, and run on your phone, for one lower price.

Switch in ten minutes

  1. Download OGAD for Mac (Apple silicon), Windows or Linux.
  2. Pick a text model. The app shows which models fit your computer.
  3. Make a Project and add the files from your Knowledge Stack. Ask a question and check the citation.
  4. Get Pro, enter your key, and turn on Memory.

No account at any step.
