AnythingLLM is built around document workspaces. Off Grid AI is built around you. It runs on your iPhone, your Android phone and your computer, makes images on each of them, and keeps them in sync.

If you want one private assistant in your pocket and on your desk, start here.

Checked 29 October 2026 against anythingllm.com and AnythingLLM's GitHub README (v1.19.0), and Off Grid AI's release notes. "Not listed" means the feature is not on AnythingLLM's own pages.

A real app on your iPhone

AnythingLLM's site lists desktop apps, a Docker image for servers, a cloud for teams and a mobile app for Android. iPhone isn't on the list.

Off Grid AI Mobile (OGAM) runs on iPhone 12 and newer and on Android phones with 4GB of RAM. The model runs in the phone's memory. Chat, images, vision, voice input and Projects all work in airplane mode once a model is downloaded.

On an iPhone 15 Pro or an 8GB Android flagship, Qwen 3.5 4B is the sweet spot for quality.

Pictures from the same assistant

Ask for an image on your phone and OGAM writes a fuller prompt, then Stable Diffusion draws it on the device. On your computer, Off Grid AI Desktop (OGAD) runs models such as RealVisXL V5.0 Lightning on your GPU. A 1024 by 1024 image takes 6 steps with that model.

You get one conversation that writes the copy and makes the picture. AnythingLLM's site does not list image generation.

Your files, answered with sources

Add a PDF or your notes to a Project and ask a question. Off Grid AI answers and cites the passage it used. The files are read and searched on your device, whether that's a phone on a train or a laptop at your desk.

Projects are free on both phone and computer.

One assistant across your devices

With Pro, Sync carries your chats and Projects between your phone and your computer over your own network. Start reading a contract on your phone, then pick up the same Project on your laptop.

Away from home, OGAM can also reach the larger model on your computer over your home network or VPN. The phone gets desktop-size answers and the traffic stays on your network.

Nothing to host

OGAD and OGAM are apps. You install one and pick a model, and that's the setup. There is no container to run and no port to open.

For developers, OGAD runs one OpenAI-compatible API at 127.0.0.1:7878, bound to your own machine. The same endpoint serves chat, images and speech. See the local API guide.

Shipping every week

Off Grid AI shipped 20 releases in October 2026, 8 for mobile and 12 for desktop. OGAM 0.0.118 and OGAD 0.0.55 both landed on 23 October.

Switch in five minutes

  1. Install OGAM from the App Store or Google Play, and OGAD on your computer.
  2. Download one model on each. The apps show which models fit before you download.
  3. Make a Project, add the documents from your AnythingLLM workspace and ask your first question.
  4. Ask for an image in the same chat.

No account at any step.

What Pro adds

Pro is optional. It adds Sync across up to 5 devices, drafts and actions you approve, and on the computer, searchable memory of your work and meetings. On 29 October 2026 it costs $79.99 once, a limited-time price down from $119, or $7.99 a month. See Pro.

The free apps stay free. Chat, images, vision, voice input and Projects never need Pro.
