From Balance Sheets to Binaries: How I Built a Fintech App with Zero IT Background Using AI 🚀

Every accountant, auditor, and bookkeeper knows the pain of the Bank Reconciliation Statement (BRS). Matching hundreds—sometimes thousands—of issued cheques against a bank statement is a manual, soul-crushing task.
Spreadsheet fatigue is real. Human error is inevitable. I knew there had to be a way to automate this, but I didn't have a dev team.
So, I hired an AI.
Using YouTube tutorials and Google AI Studio as my "Technical Co-Pilot," I embarked on a journey to build the tool I always wished I had.

The biggest challenge in BRS is that data is "dirty." Excel often strips leading zeros from cheque numbers (e.g., 01234 becomes 1234), while the bank PDF keeps them.
I worked with Google AI Studio to develop a Direct String Normalization logic.
The Result: You upload your Cash Book (Excel) and your Bank Statement (Digital PDF).
The Magic: The app "reads" the PDF, cleans the data, matches the unique identifiers, and clears your transactions in seconds. 100% accuracy. Zero manual ticking.
