I'm not complaining, but it seems like it's the same thing every time. Whether it's mongodb related or MERN stack related, I don't really see any other top posts. What do you guys think?

I think the most development is currently in the webdev area, rather than Java or C for example. However, you can always follow other tags which will show you those top posts more often in your feed. :)

I think it's a combination of different factors.
Many beginners enter into development though JS. So you see a lot of articles tailored towards beginners (by experienced developers or beginners themselves). In addition, as they progress in their journey, they also write about it.
JS is fun to talk about and many JS projects give immediate UI feedback (ie creating a webapp). "cool" visible feedback isn't so immediate when you write articles about databases, hibernate or other languages typically used in the backend (java, C#, etc)
I think it's so the ecosystem. Lots of new people into webdev and the environment is constantly changing...so there's just a lot to write about.
Many want their articles read. So if you write topics that interest many people, you'll get a higher readership...at least, that's what some people think and do. Certain blogging platforms like DEV have a lot of JS developers as well.
I think a factor is that Dev.to cut its teeth as web developer community. Given that JS is a core language of the web development platform you can arrive at the conclusion that a web development oriented community will have a lot of content related to a core programming language of web development.
However, there aren't any rules I've seen restricting post topics so maybe there is room to shake it up and write some non JS content :)
I feel like its because new people getting into web. Jump on the same bandwagon of the whole MERN stack.... And then later realize it was awful idea as its over flooded with people. I feel like if content creators in general stoped pushing this mindest to go learn the most popular thing out there. And learn something that is still being used and will get you in the door. Rather than the new shiny toy that released 10 seconds ago we would see alot less of this.
