A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be a guest on the Coffee & Open Source podcast.
I've been listening to the show for a while - the format is usually an interview by the host, Isaac Levin, asking questions and chatting to an individual from the Open Source and software community. I've learned a lot about other developers and their careers from the episodes I've caught up on in the past.
The interview happened live on Isaac's Twitch channel - you can watch the recorded video version on YouTube (embedded below), or, you can search for "Coffee & Open Source" in your favourite podcast app, and listen to the audio - that's how I've usually consumed episodes myself.
The episode landing page contains my bio and related links, as well as direct links to the show on various podcast platforms.
We talked about my background, coming from a formal education in Modern History, into tech; how I learned to code in the 1980s and 1990s; some of my experiences over the past 25 or so years (or, uh, more!) in the technology industry; and thoughts on various topics in Open Source, the Twitter API, and developer communities. It was a really enjoyable conversation, and I truly appreciated the opportunity to take part in the show. Thanks again, Isaac!
Let me know if you listen to the interview, and have any questions or thoughts of your own. I'm often happy to get involved in podcasts, livestreams, and similar conversations, if there are topics that match up with my knowledge and experience (and if I have the time in my schedule).
As a "bonus add-on" related to this: if you listen, and are curious about my background in Developer Relations, you can read about my origin story in Developer Advoacy in a bit more detail, here on DEV:
In addition, while we are on the subject of podcasts: I'm also the co-host of a regular show, called Games at Work dot Biz. We try to record weekly on Friday, with the episodes released every Monday; and we've been doing it for over 10 years, believe it or not. The show is made up of fresh links each week, with our core topics ranging from gaming technology, collaboration in the workplace, the metaverse, social platforms, and anything in the tech news space that catches our attention (or that our listeners Tweet us about). Once again, you should be able to search for us in your favourite podcast app, just look for "Games at Work dot Biz" - or visit our site.
We'd love to have you listen and subscribe; you can suggest topics for us to talk about each week, too. Give us a try 🎧 we would be happy to hear what you think 📢
