How to name your YouTube channel without regretting it in a year

A channel name has to do three jobs at once: say what the channel is about, be easy to remember after hearing it once, and still fit in a year when the content grows.

Most channel names fail the third job. A name tied to one exact topic boxes you in the moment you want to branch out. A name that is clever but hard to spell costs you every viewer who tries to search for you and lands somewhere else.

A simple process fixes this:

  1. Write what the channel is about in one sentence.
  2. List 30 to 40 words around it: verbs, feelings, images.
  3. Combine them into candidates, then kill anything hard to say, hard to spell, or too narrow.
  4. Check the domain and the handles before you get attached. A matching .com and handle matter even for a channel, because that is where your community finds you off platform.

That last step is where most people lose a week. NamerGuide checks domain and username availability together, with the date checked, so you can shortlist names that are actually free instead of falling for taken ones. It is free and needs no account.

Pick a name with room to grow, check it is yours everywhere, then get back to making videos: https://namerguide.com
