Aniruddha’s 2024: From Code Commits to Cinematic Hits – A Year of Growth, Grit, and Gratitude

This is a submission for the 2025 New Year Writing challenge: Retro’ing and Debugging 2024.

I know you’re here, and I can’t thank you enough for making it this far. This blog? It’s more for me than you. No judgments, okay?

2024: The Year That Flew Past 🕊️

Every year feels fast, but 2024? It sprinted. There were moments I thrived, moments I struggled, and plenty of moments where I asked, “What’s even happening?”

Early on, I decided this year was going to be about pushing boundaries—personally and professionally. Did I achieve everything I set out to? Not quite. Did I surprise myself with how far I got? Absolutely.

There were highs—some personal victories, milestones, and good memories. There were lows too—moments where I questioned everything, but hey, what’s life without a little drama?

And through it all, I kept moving. That’s what matters, right?

Milestones That Made My Year ✨

Let’s dive into what went well because there’s plenty to celebrate:

  1. Hacktoberfest Hero x11: This year was my most active Hacktoberfest yet, with 11 completions! A big win for open source and personal growth.

  2. LinkedIn Stardom: Surpassed 5,000 followers on LinkedIn. It’s not just a number—it’s about building meaningful connections and sharing knowledge.

  3. AI, ML & Python Proficiency: Explored the fascinating world of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and Python’s robust libraries. A journey that’s just beginning!

  4. Open-Source Contributions: Made some significant open-source contributions to impactful projects. It’s rewarding to give back to the community.

  5. Bollywood & Beyond: Watched every 2024 movie I could, from Kalki and Stree-2 to Tere Bato Ne Aise Ulgha Dia. Sci-fi, horror, comedy—you name it, I’ve seen it.

  6. Web Series Binge: Balanced it out with some fantastic web series. Let’s just say the couch became my best friend.

  7. Personal Growth: Focused on building a better routine, learning to balance productivity with rest, and taking care of myself mentally and physically.

What I Could’ve Done Better 🤔

With all the highs, there are always areas for improvement:

  • Better Time Management: Spent a lot of hours procrastinating when I could’ve been learning or creating.

  • More Personal Projects: While open-source was a priority, some of my own projects got sidelined.

  • Fitness Goals: My screen time skyrocketed, but my workout hours? Not so much.

  • Exploring More: I didn’t step out of my comfort zone as much as I should have—something to work on in 2025.

  • Less Social, More Virtual: My in-person social life took a backseat. Virtual connections are great, but balance is key.

Lessons from 2024 🌟

Here’s what this whirlwind year taught me:

  1. Consistency Wins: Whether it’s coding, learning, or networking, showing up every day makes a difference.

  2. Be Curious: Learning AI/ML opened doors to a world I’d barely scratched. Never stop exploring.

  3. Celebrate Small Wins: Every milestone, no matter how tiny, is worth acknowledging.

  4. Detach from Outcomes: Focus on the process, not just the results.

  5. Take Breaks: Rest isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity.

  6. Kindness Matters: Both to others and yourself.

Looking Ahead to 2025 🚀

Do I have big resolutions? Not really. My plan is simple:

  • 📖 Learn more.
  • 🧠 Work smarter.
  • ⌚ Spend time with people and projects that truly matter.

2024 wasn’t perfect, but it was mine. Every triumph, every stumble—it shaped me into who I am today.

To everyone who’s been part of this journey—thank you. Let’s make 2025 unforgettable.

And if you’re reading this, here’s to your own incredible year ahead. Cheers to us all!

Happy New Year! 🎇 Stay curious, stay awesome!
