🌦️ Weatherly – A Modern Weather Dashboard
I'm excited to share one of my web development projects: Weatherly, a modern and interactive weather dashboard built using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and the OpenWeather API.
I created this project to improve my frontend development skills, explore API integration, and build a user-friendly weather application with a clean and modern interface.
🚀 About the Project
Weatherly is a weather dashboard that allows users to explore weather information for different cities around the world.
The application fetches weather data using the OpenWeather API and displays it through an interactive and responsive user interface.
This is a frontend-focused project. It does not use a separate custom backend server.
🛠️ Technologies Used
Here are the technologies I used:
- HTML5 – To structure the application.
- CSS3 – To design the interface and create responsive layouts.
- JavaScript – To handle application logic and API requests.
- OpenWeather API – To retrieve weather information.
- Vercel – To deploy and host the application.
✨ Key Features
Weatherly includes several weather-related features:
- 🌍 Search for weather information by city.
- 🌡️ Current temperature and weather conditions.
- 🌤️ Hourly weather forecast.
- 📅 7-day weather forecast.
- 💧 Humidity information.
- 💨 Wind speed and direction.
- ☀️ UV Index information.
- 🌫️ Air Quality information.
- 🌎 Weather information for different cities.
- 📱 Modern and responsive user interface.
Note: The weather radar section currently uses a sample radar view rather than a live precipitation radar.
🔌 API Integration
One of the most interesting parts of this project was integrating the OpenWeather API.
Using JavaScript, I connected the application to the weather API and retrieved weather information.
The application processes the API response and displays the relevant information in the user interface.
This helped me understand how frontend applications communicate with external APIs and work with dynamic data.
🎨 UI/UX Design
I wanted Weatherly to have a modern and visually appealing design.
My focus was on:
- Clean and organized layouts.
- Easy-to-understand weather information.
- User-friendly navigation.
- Modern visual elements.
- Responsive design.
I believe that a good user experience is just as important as application functionality.
📚 What I Learned
Building Weatherly helped me improve my understanding of:
- Working with external APIs.
- Fetching and displaying dynamic data using JavaScript.
- Handling API responses.
- Designing modern frontend interfaces.
- Creating responsive web applications.
- Deploying projects using Vercel.
This project also helped me gain more confidence in frontend development.

💭 Final Thoughts
Weatherly was a great learning experience for me.
While building this project, I learned how to combine frontend technologies with real-world API data to create a useful web application.
I'm continuously learning and exploring new technologies to improve my development and UI/UX design skills.
I would love to hear your feedback and suggestions!
Thanks for reading! 🚀
