My Cloud & DevOps Journey: Building Cloud Guard and Practicing Linux Infrastructure

Hi Everyone,

I’m Arun Vishwakarma, a Cloud Engineering & DevOps Learner and Practitioner focused on practical, hands-on learning.

I don’t claim to be an expert. My approach is simple:

Learn → Implement → Test → Document → Improve

I spend significant time working with Linux command-line environments, cloud technologies, application development, Kubernetes, Git/GitHub, and infrastructure tools. I try to keep my projects transparent by documenting what I actually build, test, and verify.

🔄 MY CURRENT LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT FLOW

I’m currently following this roadmap through practical projects rather than only studying theory. I learn a concept, implement it in a controlled environment or project, verify the result, document the work, and then continue to the next stage.

🚀 1. CURRENT MAIN PROJECT — CLOUD GUARD

Cloud Guard is an actively developed Flutter + Firebase security and file-management application for Web and Android.

The project currently includes practical features such as:

• Firebase Authentication
• Google Sign-In
• Account-security information
• Security Checklist and Activity tracking
• App Lock with PIN and Android biometric support
• Auto-Lock controls
• Local file security scanning
• File type mismatch detection
• Suspicious and dangerous file detection
• File Security Reports
• File Integrity Checker
• Video Link Player
• Secure File Locker with permanent local storage
• Separate Locker PIN for protected files
• Firebase account verification for Locker PIN reset
• Android update notification system
• Responsive Flutter Web and Android interface

I’m continuing to improve Cloud Guard incrementally while keeping the implementation and its limitations transparent.

🐧 2. LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION PROJECTS

Alongside application development, I’m building practical Linux administration projects using Ubuntu/WSL-based lab environments.

💾 Linux Server Backup & Automated Disk Space Management

I built and documented a Linux administration project covering:

• Automated server backup creation
• Timestamped backup archives
• Disk-space monitoring
• Threshold-based cleanup logic
• Backup validation
• Safe handling of source and destination directories
• GitHub synchronization and project documentation

The focus of this project is understanding how a System Administrator can automate routine backup and disk-space management tasks while validating operations before making changes.

🌐 Linux Nginx Web Server Administration

I also built a practical Nginx administration project covering:

• Nginx web-server deployment
• systemd service management
• Firewall configuration
• HTTPS/TLS configuration
• HTTP → HTTPS redirection
• SSL certificate configuration in a lab environment
• Nginx log rotation
• Log compression
• Basic server monitoring
• Bash-based alert scripting

This project is helping me understand the practical relationship between Linux administration, networking, web servers, security configuration, monitoring, and automation.

☸️ 3. KUBERNETES HANDS-ON LEARNING

I’m also progressing through practical Kubernetes learning using Minikube and Docker Desktop.

My Kubernetes learning is focused on understanding and practicing cluster-based concepts through actual commands and deployments rather than only reading theory.

I’m documenting the learning process step by step as I continue progressing through my Cloud/DevOps roadmap.

📋 4. COMPLETED PROJECT — DEVOPS CHEAT SHEET

One of my first practical projects was a DevOps Cheat Sheet — a web-based reference containing useful commands for everyday DevOps and Linux-related work.

The project currently provides:

• 210+ practical commands
• 16+ categories
• Linux commands
• Git commands
• Docker commands
• Kubernetes commands
• DevOps-related commands
• Search functionality
• Beginner-friendly command reference

This project is completed and serves as a quick reference for commonly used commands while working on practical Cloud/DevOps projects.

🌐 5. WEB DEVELOPMENT, GIT & DEPLOYMENT

Alongside infrastructure work, I’m developing applications and maintaining their source code through Git and GitHub.

I also work with:

• Git version control
• GitHub repositories
• Project documentation
• Release management
• Flutter Web deployment
• Android build and release workflows
• Practical troubleshooting and verification

My goal is to understand not only how to write code, but also how an application moves from:

Development → Testing → Version Control → Build → Deployment

🧪 6. MY PRACTICAL LEARNING APPROACH

For every project, I try to follow a similar workflow:

1. Learn the concept
2. Build it in a controlled environment
3. Test and verify the result
4. Troubleshoot errors
5. Document what actually worked
6. Push the work to GitHub
7. Continue improving the project

This approach is helping me connect Linux, cloud, DevOps, application development, networking, security, automation, and deployment instead of learning each topic in isolation.

🎯 7. MY CURRENT FOCUS

Right now, my main focus is continuing to develop Cloud Guard, progressing through Kubernetes hands-on learning, and expanding my Linux/System Administration projects.

I’m especially interested in gaining more practical experience with:

Linux Administration | Cloud Infrastructure | DevOps | Kubernetes | Networking | Automation | Git/GitHub | Application Deployment

I’m still learning, but I believe consistent hands-on practice, troubleshooting, documentation, and honest project reporting are the best ways to improve.
