Welcome to Day 3 of the Simp1os Dev Logs — where we celebrate small wins, document large failures, and pretend everything is going according to plan.
Today was a mess.
A glorious, BIOS-looping, VGA-glitching, GRUB-arguing mess.
But we made it.
The ISO is real. The installer is stable. The kernel halts with dignity.
🎯 Objective
- Finalize Stage 1 (Text Mode Installer)
- Fix the cursed SeaBIOS loop
- Stop QEMU from freezing like a scared squirrel
- Clean up VGA output
- Prepare for GUI (Stage 2)
- And most importantly: Make the ISO real. Like, “send-it-to-strangers-on-the-internet” real.
🧨 What Went Wrong (and Then Right)
- Messages skipped like a scratched CD
- SeaBIOS looped like a cursed mixtape
- QEMU froze harder than my will to debug
- GRUB configs argued with each other like divorced bootloaders
- Memory corruption summoned the ancient glyph:
#RESERVED (C) - The installer tried to replace the kernel like a rebellious teenager
But then…
- We realized: The installer is not the kernel. It is within the kernel. It is called, not replaced. It is legacy, not legacy code.
🧠 Key Fixes
- VGA writes now respect memory boundaries (no more graffiti in the void)
- Cursor logic obeys the laws of physics
- GRUB + Multiboot v1 handshake confirmed
-
entry.asmnow halts like a monk in meditation - Screen clears between steps like a minimalist’s dream

[Are you sure?] → [Press any key]
[RONDS CORPORATION (C)]
→ HALT (no reboot, no loop, just peace)
✅ No skips
✅ No garbage
✅ No freeze
✅ No BIOS loop
✅ No existential dread (well, maybe a little)
📦 Status Update
Stage 1: COMPLETE
- Kernel is stable
- Installer is clean
- ISO is real
- Giveaway is live
- Legacy is in motion
🚀 What’s Next (Stage 2)
- Framebuffer graphics (Copilot yellow, obviously)
- Mouse input
- Keyboard input
- GUI layout system
- But Stage 1 stays untouched — it’s sacred now
📣 Bonus: Early Access Giveaway Is Live

will receive the Simp1OS ISO.
Yes, it boots.
Yes, it halts.
Yes, it’s branded.
No, we’re not responsible if your toaster tries to run it.
💡 Legacy isn’t just written — it’s burned into an ISO and gifted to the brave.
