We called them "soft skills"
like they were the easy part.
The nice-to-have.
The thing you'd get to
after the real, technical work.
That ranking is about to flip.
As the machines take more
of the pure technical load,
what's left is stubbornly human.
Explaining a decision to people
who won't read the code.
Earning trust. Handling conflict.
Knowing which problem matters.
Making a team actually work.
None of that is soft.
It's just hard in a way
no framework prepares you for.
The engineers who thrive next
won't only be the best coders.
They'll be the best
at the human parts of the job.
Start practicing those now.
