Why action items from Indian team meetings get lost (and how we capture them in Hinglish)

Every team has had this meeting. Everyone nods, someone says "I'll take care of it", and a week later nobody remembers who was supposed to do what.

In Indian teams this happens a lot, and one reason is simple: we don't talk in one language. A typical call mixes English, Hindi and Hinglish in a single sentence. "Client ko proposal Friday tak bhej dena" is a perfectly clear task for the people in the room. But most note-taking tools are built for English only, so that line either gets mangled or skipped.

Where action items usually get lost

  • Nobody is named. "Someone should follow up" means no one follows up.
  • No deadline. "Soon" is not a date.
  • Notes live in a doc that nobody opens again.
  • The task never reaches the tool the team actually uses, like Jira or Notion.
  • Mixed-language talk is not captured properly.

How we capture them with Notemaker

We built Notemaker to fix exactly this. Here is what it does:

  • It joins your Google Meet, Zoom or Teams call.
  • It extracts tasks with an owner, a deadline and the quote they came from, so you can always check what was actually said.
  • It understands English, Hindi and Hinglish.
  • It syncs tasks to Jira, Notion, Asana, Trello, ClickUp or Google Sheets.
  • It sends reminders on Slack, WhatsApp or email, so the task shows up where people already look.

The quote part matters more than you might think. When a task says "Rohit, send the revised proposal by Friday" and links back to the exact line from the call, there is no argument later about who agreed to what.

Try it

There is a free plan with no card needed. Pro is ₹999/month if you want more.

If your meetings end with good intentions and no follow-through, give it a go on your next call: https://notemaker.autobot360.com/meetings

I'd love to hear how your team keeps track of action items today. What works for you?
