What's hot off the press from AWS re:Invent 2025?
I am still excited to experiment with AI foundation models announced at last year's AWS re:Invent. If you missed watching the keynote from CEO of Amazon Web Services Matt Garman you may keep abreast of the key announcements if you are practitioner or researcher working at the intersection of data and AI.
Let me introduce you to Amazon Nova 2 family of foundation models which are foundation models that include different capabilities to help you achieve your tasks.
You may refer to the technical report published in December 2025 by Amazon Artificial Generative Intelligence team to compared benchmark performance.
- Amazon Nova 2 Lite: a cost-effective multimodal reasoning model that is fast and output text and code.
- Amazon Nova 2 Pro: a multimodal model that can be configured for extended thinking with multimodal reasoning capabilities.
- Amazon Nova 2 Sonic: a speech-to-speech model that can be used for conversational AI such as building chatbots and in contact centers to design customer experiences.
- Amazon 2 Omni (preview): a one-size-fits-all multimodal reasoning model that can handle inputs(up to 1 million tokens) from text, images, video or speech and generates text and image outputs.

What is Amazon Nova 2 Omni (Preview)
Let me introduce you to Amazon 2 Omni which is a unified multimodal reasoning model that was launched on 3 December 2025 at AWS re:Invent and is currently in public preview.
It can be used for reasoning and image generation.
What are the features?
Amazon Nova 2 Omni includes the following features:
- Reduces costs
- Text input: available in 200 languages
- Speech input: available in 10 languages
- A context window of 1M tokens
What are the benefits?
Amazon Nova 2 Omni reduces the complexity of managing several AI models.
How do I get started?
In public preview, you may access Amazon Nova 2 Omni if you are an Amazon Nova Forge customer. You can speak to your AWS account team.
