GitHub Sponsors is a system that mainly supports open source activities financially.

GitHub Sponsors supports individuals and organizations, but here I summarize GitHub Sponsors for individuals.

Types of open source activities

My open source activities are mainly as follows.

• Software development: textlint, Secretlint, HonKit and other development and maintenance.
• Web service development: philan.net, Komesan, Irodr, etc.
• Blogs: Posting on JSer.info and ECMAScript Daily blogs
• Books: Writing for JavaScript Primer and JavaScript Promise book in Japanese

Basically, I do it as a hobby.

Conclusion

I think it is important that there is a system that allows not only code contributions but also financial contributions.
Compared to last year, I feel that more people are using GitHub Sponsors.

For example, Sentry uses a service called thanks.dev to automatically distribute money to maintainers of libraries that depend on it.
