I agree β without having an idea about what might be next here, what we need at the very least are somewhat of a diversity of reasonable perspectives in industry.
I imagine everyone is quite skeptical about the effectiveness of the next steps here, but that is, indeed, a notable positive.
Yeah it's always a bad sign when the headline is "following a meeting with CEOs of [companies where increased regulation will directly hurt their bottom line]". Not even safety/alignment experts from those same companies (as if that wouldn't already be enough of a conflict of interest), the freakin' CEOs. The people whose literal job description is maximizing shareholder profits.

Incumbents trying to capture the market through regulation. Zero "good intentions" here, all about keeping competition out :)
The real problem is that this is going to spread beyond North America and Western Europe - it's an invisible thing, I'd bet it already has...
