Best open source todolist app and much more - Super productivity

What is Super Productivity?
Super Productivity - I like this app so much. It works on linux, windows, macos, android and ios and helps me getting better organised. I just write all my todos down there and they get synced from my pc to my phone and other devices. I can also look them up in the web, just as a browser tab while I am searching. It also supports note takeing, has a pomodoro timer and time tracking. It also has a habit tracker build-in, how nice is that. And the best part - it is FOSS, so I get all features for free, unlimited projects and I can read and modifiy the source code, hosted on github. It is avaible in the Microsoft store, so it gets updates automaticly but you can also download it from the website.

What I have tried before
I tried todoist, zenkit, any.do and much more before, but non of this apps get me. Thats why I got the neovim org mode plugin. But I had so much text then there in the .org file and it wasn't really organised, when you have 25 todo tasks a day. I have a backlog in super productivity and it is also synchronised with github issues and my ical calendar. It also supports gitlab and jira sync.

Best parts of the software
I think the best things of the software are:

  • Nice design, you can switch the wallpaper to your own and have a clean look
  • Good gestures for mobile
  • Great pomodoro features
  • Awesome habit tracker with click count and timer
  • Good sync
  • Free
  • Open source
  • And much more

Note
I will still use this software in the future and I plan to write an article on dev.to after using it one month, so you can see if I still love this wonderful software. I will also use it for school stuff.

Have a great day.

Thank you for sharing. I'm somewhat scared of complex to-do trackers as from my experience, they end up being to-do idea dumps (last-one being Wunderlist, what a list I had β€” then I got fed up and deleted everything β€” bliss). So far, what really worked for me was Stickies technique I learnt from robertheaton.com/2014/07/21/how-to.... For example, here is my today's list β€” first three to do (ideally).

today's stickies

The idea is, Stickies makes you keep the list short and thus, workable. Then, SimpleNote (alternative to Notational Velocity) keeps all notes, and Anki spaced repetition cards (for both words in foreign languages and Tech bits) ensures I don't forget. With regards to Pomodoro etc, they don't work for me. If I'm into something, I have to be 100% into it ("hell yeah" rule). If I don't feel like it, I don't force myself and instead go to do something exciting. Always, when I come back, procrastination is gone. Osho was teaching along those lines, to embrace it and watch how it goes away.

And what is why mobile sync? And does is also works on windows? I already have anki so I think I could just use the microsoft sticky notes app then. Is it just plain text? And what do you think about get things done (gtd), there you have an inbox etc.

I don't know, Stickies don't need to sync with mobile, they are for "computer" tasks. And yes, they're plain text. GTD is over-engineered imho. Did it work for you? Btw, Idaesbasic is impressive! I guess, all depends on one's situation.

Yes, it depends on the situation. I think I will contuine the development of idaesbasic in some days, as I now worked on a private game dev project I will release in some years, close source. I think I will add time tracking to idaesbasic, but you can disable if you want.

I try to create an integration for superproductivity, so users could use a mobile client with it, as it also runs on mobile, that idaesbasic cant. github.com/johannesjo/super-produc...

Yes, mobile and pc. When you want to scroll in mobile, wipe at the middle of the tasks, if you want to move tasks, wipe at the left site.
