Your gallery permission is a bigger privacy risk than you think

Every app on your phone that has
gallery permission can see your
screenshots.

Think about that for a second.

What's actually in your screenshots?

Open your gallery right now.

You'll probably find:

  • Bank OTP codes
  • UPI payment receipts
  • Salary slips
  • Private WhatsApp conversations
  • Password reset links
  • Aadhaar/ID card photos
  • Credit card statements

All sitting there. Unprotected.

The permission problem

When you install an app and click
"Allow Gallery Access" — that app
can read EVERY image in your gallery.

Your food delivery app.
Your gaming app.
That random utility app.

All of them. All your screenshots.

It gets worse

Most screenshot organizer apps
require cloud upload.

So not only does your local app
have access — now a server
somewhere also has your OTPs
and bank receipts.

The only real fix

Process screenshots where no one
else can access them.

Your browser.

Everything runs locally.
Nothing leaves your device.
No server. No database. No cloud.

This is exactly why I built
OrganizeShots:

✅ Drag & drop screenshots
✅ OCR reads text inside images
✅ Auto-sorts — OTP, Payments,
WhatsApp, Documents & more
✅ Duplicate detection
✅ ZIP download
✅ Zero upload — ever
✅ 100% free

Your screenshots are private.
They should stay that way.

Would love your thoughts —
am I overreacting about
gallery permissions? 🤔
