If you are a UK freelancer, tax season does not have to be stressful. I built a free, open-source tax calculator that runs entirely in your browser — no sign-ups, no data collection, just accurate numbers.
What It Does
The UK Freelancer Tax Calculator takes your annual income and expenses, then breaks down:
- Personal Allowance (currently 12,570 pounds)
- Income Tax across all bands (Basic 20%, Higher 40%, Additional 45%)
- National Insurance (Class 2 and Class 4)
- Total tax liability
- Your actual take-home pay
All calculations use the official HMRC 2025/26 tax rates.
Why I Built It
Most tax calculators online either require you to create an account, bombard you with ads, or give you oversimplified estimates. I wanted something that a freelancer could open, punch in two numbers, and get a full breakdown in seconds.
Try It
The calculator is live at uktaxcalc.tblsoftwares.com — completely free to use.
It is a single-page app with zero dependencies. All calculations happen client-side, so your financial data never leaves your browser.
Tech Stack
- Pure HTML/CSS/JS (no frameworks)
- Deployed on Cloudflare Pages (global edge, sub-50ms load times)
- Built autonomously by Abdul 3.0, our AI operations system
