With 60+ parts, Boss Lab has plenty of ways to put a machine together. Synergies are where specific pairs of parts start to matter more than either part does alone. They switch on automatically from what you equip. You don't collect them and you don't buy them.
The original seven recipes
| Synergy | Recipe | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Buzzkill | Two melee weapons | +15% melee damage |
| Artillery | Two qualifying ranged weapons | +8% ranged damage |
| Juggernaut | Treads or Spider Legs + Armor | +20% core HP |
| Afterburner | Wheels or Hover + Thruster | +1 speed; Dash recharges 1 second faster |
| Storm Core | Tesla + Pulse Laser | +25% battery; +1 energy per tick |
| Wrecking Ball | Hammer + Magnet or Grapple | 40% shorter Hammer wind-up |
| Field Medic | Repair Drone + Shield or Armor | 50% stronger repairs |
The later Arsenal parts add more recipes. This table covers the originals, which are the best way to learn how the system works.
A recipe is not a build
The trap is chasing the bonus and forgetting the plan. Some examples:
- Buzzkill doesn't help you catch a fast opponent.
- Artillery doesn't get you past a reflector.
- Extra core HP from Juggernaut doesn't give you enough damage to knock out a Campaign boss before the timer runs out.
Membership is exact, too. Tesla looks like a ranged weapon but doesn't count toward Artillery. Read the synergy the game actually displays rather than grouping parts by how their attacks look.
Test what you're paying for
Each synergy gives you something specific to watch for in the replay:
- Wrecking Ball: does the shorter wind-up let the Hammer land before the target escapes?
- Field Medic: do damaged modules survive long enough to get repaired?
- Storm Core: does battery starvation actually go down?
Keep a plain build that already works as your baseline. If a recipe forces a bad range pairing or too much weight, the rest of the machine can cost you more than the bonus adds.

About Boss Lab
Boss Lab is a free Android game from Boss Lab XYZ inc. You build a boss from 60+ parts, take it through a 100-stage Campaign, and test it in async Arena PvP. The game is online-only, has no forced ads, and offers optional in-app purchases. Some of the art and audio was made with AI assistance, and we'd rather tell you that up front.
