When we started building a poker selection app, we thought the hardest part would be the technical side. Tournament data, filters, player tracking, and performance optimization all sounded complex enough.
But after talking with grinders and testing ideas, we noticed a much bigger problem.
Most poker players spend countless hours studying strategy while giving almost no attention to game selection. They work hard to improve tiny edges inside hands, then randomly register tournaments filled with strong regulars.
That completely changed how we approached the app.
Instead of building another study tool, we wanted to create something practical. A tool that helps players make better decisions before they even sit down at the tables. Because in modern online poker, choosing the right tournament can impact ROI more than many players realize.
One interesting thing during development was learning how little players actually want complicated data. Poker players love statistics, but during grind sessions they need speed and clarity. The best tools are often the simplest ones.
Building this project also changed the way we view poker itself.
Sometimes the biggest mistake is not a bad river call.
Sometimes it is registering the wrong tournament in the first place.
