What is a Virtual Machine (VM)?
A virtual machine (VM) is essentially a software emulation of a physical computer. It allows you to run multiple operating systems (OS) on a single physical machine, enabling you to utilize resources more efficiently and isolate environments for different purposes. Here's a step-by-step guide to creating a virtual machine, along with illustrations:
What is virtualization
Virtualization often includes computer-generated versions of hardware, operating systems, storage devices, and more.
Uses of Virtual Machines:
Device Backup:
VMs facilitate file backups by copying existing programs and operating systems.
Testing:
VMs are valuable for testing purposes.
Beta software releases can be tested before final deployment.
Test scripts can be executed within the VM environment.
Program Development:
Developers can code applications in a new environment using VMs.
Versions can be deployed directly to the cloud if the VM has cloud server connectivity.
Cybersecurity:
VMs allow running programs on host devices with security issues, ensuring safety.
STEPS IN CREATING A VIRTUAL MACHINE
1.Login to Azure Portal
2.Search for Virtual Machine in the search bar.
3.Click on the create a Resource Button
4.Create Resource group
- Give the virtual Machine a name 6.Select the image 7.Create username and password 8.Select inbound port 9.Go to Monitoring to set 10.Disable Monitoring 11.Click on review and create to check if it is validated 12.Click on create to continue
- Click on Go to resources group 14.Click on Connect 15.Download the RDP file and your VM is ready Virtual Machine is ready for Used.
