Python Logging: From print() to Production

Using print()\ for debugging? Here's how to level up.

The Problem with print()

This works but...

print(f"Processing user {user_id}")
print(f"Error: {e}")

What's missing:

- No timestamps

- No log levels

- No file output

- Can't filter in production

Basic Logging Setup

Usage

logger.info("Processing user %s", user_id)
logger.warning("Rate limit approaching")

Level When to use
DEBUG Detailed diagnostic info
INFO General operational events
WARNING Something unexpected but not critical
ERROR Something failed
CRITICAL Application can't continue

Docker Tip

Log to stdout/stderr - Docker handles collection:
