Best Programmer Ever

The award for "Best Programmer Ever" never (to my knowledge) ever existed. Take care of yourselves and take time off for self-care. Whether with family or friends, or by yourselves. Take the time off. You won't regret it.

No one person ever won the Best Programmer Ever award, and no one ever will. Take time off. This isn't a knock against those who were still doing things around the holidays, but your future self will thank you if you just take the time to rest.

Because when you get older as I have, you'll savor every minute of all that time off you take and will feel much better.

Longevity. You want to stick around for awhile and be in good health, right? So why not take that time to care for yourselves. The work will still be there when you get back. It is still there when I get back.

The issue with such a title is that programming is usually supposed to be a team sport. A single superhero would be toxic to a team. Be the best team enabler.

That wasn't the point of my little article. The point was to take time off.

I merely questioned the motivation not to do so in order to strengthen your point.
