I built a free cybersecurity academy in 16 days — from Nepal, solo, no framework, no budget

The Problem

I wanted to learn cybersecurity seriously.

So I did what everyone does — opened
Google, YouTube, Reddit. Within an hour
I had 30+ tabs, three contradicting
roadmaps, and more confusion than
when I started.

I wasn't learning cybersecurity.
I was drowning in resources about
learning cybersecurity.

Closed everything. Sat in silence.
Thought — there has to be a better way.

The Solution

I built CyberPath Academy.

A free, structured platform that answers
one question clearly:

"Where do I start?"

https://cyberpathacademy.org

What's Inside

  • 12-month SOC Analyst roadmap (complete)
  • Digital Forensics track (8 months)
  • OSINT 30-day mini course
  • AI study mentor (Claude API)
  • Daily quizzes with weak-spot tracking
  • XP system, streaks, heatmap calendar
  • CV builder, CTF tracker, interview prep
  • Command library, skill radar
  • Zero signup. Zero paywall. Forever free.

The Build Stats

  • Built solo in 16 days
  • Pure HTML, CSS, JavaScript only
  • Zero frameworks
  • Zero budget
  • 1-2 hours per day after office
  • Built from Kathmandu, Nepal 🇳🇵

The Stack

Language → HTML, CSS, JavaScript
Framework → None (zero)
Hosting → Vercel (free)
Domain → cyberpathacademy.org
Cost → $0 to build
Database → None (localStorage only)

The Story

The hardest part wasn't the code.

It was content. Writing 12 months of
structured SOC curriculum while:

  • Working full time at office
  • Studying CCNA simultaneously
  • Attending 3rd semester university

Some days I had 30 minutes.
Some days 3 hours.
Some days I watched Messi score
a hat-trick instead. No regrets.

One day I went to Mustang, Nepal
with friends and closed the laptop
completely for 5 days.

Came back and wrote 3 months of
content in 24 hours.

The Current Stats (3 days after launch)

  • 85+ users
  • 7 countries (US, Nepal, Poland, France, Netherlands, Germany, Malaysia)
  • #1 on Google for "CyberPath Academy"
  • Zero paid marketing

What I Learned

  • Pure JS is powerful enough for complex apps — don't always need React
  • Content is 10x harder than code
  • SEO matters from day 1
  • Ship first, perfect later
  • Consistency beats talent

Why Free Forever

Because the confusion I felt on Day 1
doesn't care about your budget.

Students in Nepal, India, Bangladesh,
Nigeria, Brazil — everywhere — face
the same overwhelming internet and
the same question:

"Where do I start?"

CyberPath exists to answer that.
Clearly. Completely. Freely. For everyone.

Try It
