Synchronizing Terminal Workflows: Building & Deploying severn-trace v0.1.2

If you work with autonomous AI agents or local development setups, you've likely hit the cross-platform dev gap: your local Linux desktop setup works flawlessly, but your mobile or peripheral terminal (like Termux on Android) falls out of sync the moment you push new features.

With severn-trace, our goal is simple: build a zero-dependency, lightweight diagnostic tool for AI agent telemetry and execution tracking that runs instantly on any terminal workspace—from heavy Linux desktops to portable mobile environments.

Today, we officially released severn-trace v0.1.2 on PyPI! 🎉

Here is a look at what's new in v0.1.2, how we revamped the console experience, and how we streamlined the release process across heterogeneous environments.

💡 What's New in Version 0.1.2?

The headline feature of v0.1.2 is a total overhaul of the interactive command-line interface.

1. Expanded 9-Option Neon Console TUI

We replaced simple linear flags with a full 9-option neon-themed Terminal User Interface (TUI). The interface gives developers instant access to diagnostic modes, stream logs, agent status monitors, and configuration options without drowning the shell in clutter.

2. Zero-Dependency Footprint

To keep execution instant on low-overhead terminals like Termux, severn-trace uses pure Python standard libraries for core routines. No heavy runtime overhead, no native C compilation dependencies—just clone, install, and run.

3. Cross-Platform Parity

Whether you run severn on Ubuntu under WSL or in a phone shell via Termux, you get the exact same interface, diagnostic engine, and output formatting.

🛠 Project Architecture (pyproject.toml)

Under the hood, severn-trace leverages modern Python packaging standards with setuptools as the build backend.

Here is the exact configuration structure used in pyproject.toml for 0.1.2:

toml
[build-system]
requires = ["setuptools>=61.0"]
build-backend = "setuptools.build_meta"

[project]
name = "severn-trace"
version = "0.1.2"
description = "Zero-dependency diagnostic tool for AI agents"
readme = "README.md"
requires-python = ">=3.8"
dependencies = []
