I killed my first T-Rex in ARK 1 completely by accident. I was trying to tame a parasaur and shot the wrong thing. After 200 hours, I learned a lot about what actually keeps you alive. Most of it will apply to ARK 2.
ark2wiki.net is my ARK 2 wiki, built from official announcements, previews, and the Studio Wildcard community updates. Here are the survival principles I'm betting on:
1. Taming order matters more than gear — Your first 5 hours should be: Dodo (easy eggs) → Parasaur (early mount + berry gatherer) → Pteranodon (flying scout) → Ankylosaurus (metal farming) → Argentavis (mobile base). Skip this sequence and you'll spend twice as long doing everything.
2. Build near metal, not water — New players build on the beach. Experienced players build on a metal node. Stone base near metal = skip the anky transport phase entirely.
3. The bola is the most important early-game item — It stops raptors, sabertooths, and even some alpha creatures for 30 seconds. That's enough to run or kill. Craft 10 before you leave your base.
4. Temperature kills more players than dinos — ARK 1 had 8 biomes with lethal temperatures. ARK 2 is confirmed to have dynamic weather. Fortitude is an underrated stat.
The wiki covers confirmed creatures, crafting recipes, biome maps, and building guides — all from official ARK 2 sources. Pure static HTML, no ads.
ark2wiki.net — if you're planning to survive day one.
