Markdown Editor for Common People?

Just like this very platform, DEV.to is using a Markdown editor for writing posts, which is comfortable and might be preferable for programmer. There are some Markdown editor libraries today you can use for your web, one of them is https://simplemde.com/. Because it's easy for us as a programmer to use and seems easy for web developers to implement and integrate it perfectly in their web, we tend to want to use it instead of using rich-text WYSIWYG.

But if we give the non-programming peoples this editor on their web, will they willing to learn to use it?

How about non-Markdown? Do you need plaintext?

Regarding markdown, I feel Discourse is among the best. I don't know what it really use, though.

If you are answering the 'Markdown Editor for Common People?', It's not like I'm looking for an alternative.

My point is will people be ready if the most commonly used content editor for any website will be the Markdown Editor? Because programmers are fully shipped with this kind of editor rather than rich-text WYSIWYG that causing bugs or not integrated perfectly.

Because I personally want Markdown Editor to be widely used.
