Hello, my name is Xiongye Jiang. I'm studying at Seneca college so far. And this is my 5th semester at Seneca. For the last two semesters of my program, I can choose a few professional courses from the 16 courses that Seneca offered. The first time I noticed a course called Open Source Development, I knew that this was the one for me! Obviously, as a programmer, we are going to work with the open-source environment in the future. And this course will gain a lot of real work experience for working in an open-source environment.
I'm currently living in Toronto, Canada. My personal goal for this term is I can learn something about Open Source Development. Also, through this course, I hope I can become more and more comfortable working with other people because we have to work with other team members in real life!
Honestly, I'm still having a vague understanding of coding stuff or being a programmer. But one thing I know is I'm more prefer coding a Web Application. I like the flexibility of coding with HTML, CSS and the creativity of the website I build.
The GitHub trending repo I researched is Minimal Mistakes Jekyll theme. It's a repository for building personal sites, blogs, and portfolios. As I mentioned above, I prefer coding a web application. And this repository is a perfect example for me to learn about how to make an amazing website.
