Be a developer, pivot and learn something new. If you want to stay in the industry you have to be able to adapt and learn new things all the time and go with the flow for the most part. Especially if you prioritize a niche specialization like blockchain. Adapt it to backend or AI LLM machine learning training. That’s the hot ticket and you can use a lot of the skills already known to adapt more quickly.
I'm currently learning about blockchain and smart-contracts. I come from PHP and Web / API development and want to know more about web3 ecosystem.
I did recently career coaching with a developer who for the first time wanted to go to an leave an established company and go in an early stage startup, with a very uncetain future.
He wanted to do it but was afraid of the risk.
I told him that the risk was for the startup, not really for him personally.
It's like you are a very good panist with a nice grand piano, and a bastard came in and destroys your piano.
That sucks, you liked your piano, it was important.
But hey, you know what ?
In the grand scheme of things, what matters is that you still have your hands.
Maybe add any source to support this? I don't see any shift, actually is the opposite...
I’d suggest to avoid listening to hype (yeah, that’s hard) and go with a boring old tech further on. Boring old tech skills are transferable to new shiny tech, not vice versa unfortunately.
