Congrats to the Build Better on Stellar: Smart Contract Challenge Winners!

We are SO excited to announce the winners of the Build Better on Stellar: Smart Contract Challenge today. You can watch this celebratory video message from Elliot Voris, Developer Advocate at Stellar, or scroll down below to see who won:

From gamified recycling dApps to multi-part series of video tutorials to anonymous reporting platforms, our team of judges were thoroughly impressed by the quality and care put into all the projects submitted to this challenge.

With over $50,000 at stake, the competition was unsurprisingly fierce! Regardless of whether or not you’re declared a winner, we hope all participants are proud of what they accomplished and walk away from this challenge feeling more knowledgeable and inspired than ever.

Create a Tutorial Winners

Overall Create a Tutorial Prompt Winner
Congrats to @koolamusic and team for creating the overall best tutorial with Soroban By Example. The clear examples and integrated tools make mastering Soroban accessible and engaging for everyone, especially those transitioning from other smart contract languages.

"Wonderfully Written" Category Winner

Well done _0xmorpheus for building and writing all the materials required to create an interactive learning experience with the Stellar Supreme Tutorial.

"Vivid Video" Category Winner

@gr1ll and team take home the prize for our video tutorial category with their "100 Seconds of Stellar" submission. This video walks through through the process of building, deploying, and interacting with a Stellar smart contract using Rust.

Build a dApp Winners

Overall Build a dApp Prompt Winner
A round of applause to @jose_carlostoscano_3bb03 for building the overall best dApp with Entry X, a decentralized ticketing platform. Entry X exemplifies how Soroban Smart Contracts and the Stellar Network can revolutionize transparency and fairness in ticketing, providing a secure, efficient, and user-centric solution that addresses real industry pain points.

"Super Sustainable" Category Winner

Congrats to @chielokacodes for building DVILLA, a decentralized e-commerce app that encourages healthy living and ensures local farms are compensated.

"Glorious Game" Category Winner

Thank you to @rajdhokai for giving us a dose of nostalgia by recreating the classic Snake Game on the blockchain to ensure player data (including scores and public keys) are all stored securely and transparently.

Our two overall prompt winners will receive the following prizes:

Additional Category Winners (4)

Our Sponsor

We want to give the biggest shoutout to the Stellar Development Foundation for organizing this challenge with us. They are carving the path for our global financial system and creating powerful opportunities for the future. @j_dev28, @thelief, and team were fantastic to work with, and we’re grateful they decided to collaborate with us so we could bring this opportunity to the community!

What’s next?

We encourage all participants to further explore the Stellar Community Ecosystem.

  • The Stellar Community Fund (SCF) is an open-application awards program that leverages community input to fund and support Web3 projects building on Stellar, fostering them from ideation to full-scale execution.

  • SCF Kickstart helps transform ideas into proof of concept ahead of SCF review, and prepare applications for Stellar Community Fund Activation Awards, where selected early-stage Web3 projects can receive up to $15,000 USD to innovate on Stellar.

  • Hack Meridian is a 48 hour hackathon happening in London from October 12-13, 2024. Hackers will have the opportunity to collaborate, learn, and win from a $25,000 USD prize pool while building decentralized applications that address real-world problems. Kind of like our challenge, but IRL!

Thank you to everyone who participated! We hope you had fun, felt challenged, and maybe added a thing or two to your professional profile. See you next time!
