Hi, I'm interested to know why is TS a performance bottleneck? Is it related to inefficient code generated or the compilation procedure itself? I've read the handbook on TS but haven't gotten to write some code yet.
Nah, it's just a joke 🙂 There was a lot of hype lately (this fall) related to discussions of necessity of TS as opposed to simplicity of JS itself and simplicity of adding types with JSDoc, to the point of kinda religios holywar between pure-JS and TS proponents. That was emphasized by demonstrative switching from TS to JS of some popular dev tools with odious "thought-liders" behind them.
There are no performance bottle necks of course. TS is just a tool, very useful one. Somebody prefers JS with or without additional type annotations with tools like JSDoc. But in the end of the day, that's just a question of personal preference (or specific edge case requiring specific tool). As most questions in software development.
I actually think web technologies will reduce complexity and revert back to a simpler mindset.
