When you have 10 years of experience, you can probably work harder and become 10%-20% better at programming over the course of a semester, depending on how optimistic you feel.
In any case, that's much lower than the impact you can have by being a good pedagogue and using your 10 years experience to help the younger devs grow. Here you can have a massive lasting impact in a small number of pairing sessions. There is no JIRA ticket you can tackle that is so valuable.

Therefore, the most valuable thing a senior dev can do to grow is to learn to become a good pedagogue that helps the others grow.
