We live in a strongly commercial society. Born to consume and teached to love the material. Is that the best way to live? Is that the best way to spend the years we have?

I have a question, I ask myself from time to time. Would that change if we lived forever? How would you react to your life and will you live the same way? Won’t you get tired of always chasing the next big toy or the next big career success?
You may say I am a dreamer, but.. I am truly not. Immortal life is possible, even tho not the way you probably imagine it.

Currently it is possible to transfer your knowledge and your very mind through the generations and mark the beginning of your own big family capsule. I am talking of course about books. Today it is easier and cheaper than ever to do it! And you definitely have to!

I am going to give you a few points why this is not only important for the future, but also for yourself.

Let’s dive!

Keep it as honest as possible

The first thing you should consider is to promise to yourself that you are giving only the truth and you are completely honest.

This is a must, because you don’t want to sell just an idea. We have a lot of those. We need real and authentic people.

Inspiration

Every person that knows their family tree, feels pushed and motivated to do more. The moment you see your ancestors through their eyes, and you completely feel their emotions through a book, you know why you are fighting. You are part of a legacy. It is a unique moment that is truly inspiring.

A biography could be inspiring, simply by showing you and connecting you to the people you loved. The struggles they had, the fight they fought, all of this became too real and it is not just a distant story, someone told you.

If you write a book yourself, you can talk and motivate the people that follow. You can create your own legacy and share your own story. The world may not care, but your children and grandchildren would. You can give them a real purpose and motivation.

That leads me to my next point.

Improving your own life

While writing the book, you will have to make an analysis of your own life. Most of the time you will find what to improve. It could work as a refreshing slap that could potentially drive you to stop procrastinating and start doing.

While writing, you are going to feel a little afraid that your life may not be worthy for a book or a movie, but this could be so wrong. You know you are writing the pages! You know that you are the one deciding what could be inside. And you promised to be true to yourself.

Then the only way to write a better story is to start doing harder stuff. Shift from the path you have headed or change something.

Mark the beginning of a journey worth reading. Or put the architecture for the future generations. Talk to them and explain the ideas you have. You may not, but they maybe could make them a reality. There is no reason to keep them for yourself.

Share a story

It is sad to know that most of us don’t know anything about our grandparent’s parents. Most of us may know their names or what they worked, but.. who they really were? Is it a knowledge that is already unreachable? Probably.

That's why I argue that this shouldn’t be the case. Describe your life the best way you can. There is no need to hire a professional editor or designers. Write what you have to say. Explain every detail of your life and prepare a few copies to leave behind. Or store them in the drive. It is ridiculously cheap today.

Leave something behind. Teach your children and grandchildren to do the same. If it becomes a habit, we will produce a cycle that could possibly change millions of lives.

Talk to the generations to follow
A biography is not only explaining. It is teaching and transferring lessons and skills. You can directly speak to the people to follow. You can share a family goal, viewpoints, ideas.

Even if people don’t agree, they will understand.

Family tree protection

One of the most important topics I want to cover is the protection of the family tree.

Don’t allow it to die. Don’t allow it to just vanish. Don’t let your struggle be in vain.

Be the one that starts or continues the family legacy.

Summary

Writing a biography is a must in order to protect yourself and your family tree. It can serve as a motivation and inspiration for generations. And teaching them to write their own books will create a legacy worth reading.

Don’t be afraid to experiment and ask all your relatives about your ancestors while you can. Start the journey. Expand your family knowledge. Who knows how deep the rabbit holes go and what it could become.

I wish you an exciting journey!
