Well, if you are preparing for Cognizant On-Campus drive, chances are that you already know that it’s a marathon. I went through the entire 2025-2026 GenC hiring process, and it took about three and a half months from pressing "apply" in mid-November to finally accepting my LOI in late February.
I am a Full Stack Developer (MERN), so I wasn’t very sure how my web-heavy background would go in a standard campus interview. Fortunately, the process was structured and I was able to use my personal projects to steer the conversation.
If you have a drive coming up, here’s the complete, realistic breakdown of what the process looked like, the exact technical assessment structure and the word-for-word questions I was asked in the interview room.
Role and Overview
Role: GenC (Information Technology)
Package: ₹4.0 LPA – ₹6.75 LPA
Platform: Superset
Track: Cluster 1 (Java, SQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript)
Timeline: Mid-November 2025 – Late February 2026
Phase 1: The Screening Assessments
Cognizant has a very strict monitoring of the assessment area. All technical and aptitude tests are proctored through a SAB (Safe Assessment Browser) or MSB (Mettl Secure Browser).
1. Communication Assessment (Nov 19, 2025)
Duration: 60 Minutes
Details: A mandatory verbal and listening test. You will listen to audio clips and speak your answers into a microphone.
Suggestion: Take this in a completely silent room. The audio clips only play once. Do not press F5 or refresh the screen, as doing so will auto-submit your assessment immediately.
2. Aptitude Assessment (Nov 21, 2025)
Duration: 80 Minutes
Details: Conducted on the Aon platform using the SAB tool. It covers standard quantitative, logical, and verbal reasoning. You are required to scan and display your college ID card to the webcam before the test begins.
3. Technical Assessment – Cluster 1: Java + Web (Jan 28, 2026)
Duration: 120 Minutes (MSB V39 Browser)
Details: I had the Cluster 1 (Java, SQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) track. Instead of pure multiple-choice questions, this assessment focuses heavily on practical coding, query writing, and refactoring.
Here is how my test was structured:
SQL: 2 practical query-writing challenges.
Java (DSA): 2 coding questions.
Web Development (HTML/CSS/JS): 1 or 2 practical refactoring challenges. You are given a partially completed codebase template and must follow instructions to fix or add missing logic—such as linking image sources, building form validations, setting up a dynamic image showcase, or handling JavaScript
onclickevents.Core Java MCQs: 10 multiple-choice questions purely covering Java fundamentals.
Important Rule: Navigation is strictly locked. If you Skip or Move Forward, you cannot return to previous questions. Always answer each question completely before moving on to the next.
Phase 2: The Technical and HR Interview (Jan 31, 2026)
Three days into the technical round, I was scheduled for an interview on Superset. It was a 1 on 1 video interview on my portfolio, SQL, Core Java, computer science fundamentals, mathematics, HR scenarios.
During the project discussion, the interviewer opened up the exact resume I had submitted when applying the first time instead of letting me choose. He reviewed my list and specifically targeted my Course Marketplace project and asked me to go through it end to end. I talked him through the architecture of the MERN stack, how I designed the database schema in MongoDB, set up the API routing in Express, and built the system as a whole.

Phase 3: Letter of Intent (LOI) and Onboarding (Feb 24, 2026)
On February 24, 2026, I received the official Letter of Intent (LOI) notification via Superset.
After accepting the LOI on the Superset portal, candidates will be required to upload their Class 10th marksheet for preliminary verification. Cognizant issues the formal Offer Letter containing detailed salary components and options on joining location on verification.
Mandatory Documents Required for Onboarding
To avoid background verification (BGV) issues, keep the following documents ready:
Academic Proofs: X, XII, Diploma, UG/PG marksheets, and Degree/Provisional certificates.
PAN Card: Ensure your full name (including last name and father's name) matches your registered profile exactly. A mismatch here is a primary cause of BGV failure.
Citizenship Proof: Voter ID Card or Passport.
Aadhar Card: Required for identity and address verification.

Master the Basics: Strong fundamentals in Object-Oriented Programming, Java syntax, SQL Joins, and basic mathematical concepts will carry you through most of the technical round.
