Last year, I went through the campus placement process for LTIMindtree for the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) role (4.05 LPA). Since many students are preparing for upcoming drives, I want to share exactly what the process looked like, from the online test to the interview questions.
1. Timeline and Eligibility
The process moved quickly. To be eligible, we needed at least 60% in 10th, 12th, and college, with no active backlogs and a maximum 2-year gap in education.
- Registration: September 16, 2025
- Online Test: September 20, 2025
- Technical Interview: October 5, 2025
- HR Interview: October 8, 2025
- Final Results: November 10, 2025
2. Round 1: Online Assessment
The first round was a 110-minute online test on the SHL platform. LTIMindtree takes this very seriously. We had to install a Lockdown Browser, which completely blocks you from opening other tabs or apps. The AI tracks your webcam and microphone the entire time.
The test had three main sections:
- Aptitude: Logical, Quantitative, and Analytical questions.
- Technical: Basic Computer Programming and CS concepts.
- Verbal: English Comprehension and Spoken English.
3. Round 2: Technical Interview
After clearing the test, I had a virtual technical interview on October 5. Even though the role was general, the interviewers focused heavily on the projects I had on my resume:
- Please give a brief introduction.
General Project and Portfolio
- What are your projects?
- Can you explain one of your core projects in detail? (I chose to explain my Course Marketplace project here).
- How did you solve a specific technical challenge in one of your projects?
- How does your project stand out from other similar applications in the market?
Project Deep-Dive and Architecture (Course Marketplace)
- Can you explain the data flow and system architecture of this project?
- What specific technologies did you use to build the frontend?
- How and where are user files stored in this application?
- What specific security measures did you implement in this project?
- Can you describe the database schema and tables used here?
- How is the relationship between "courses" and "students" mapped in your database?
- How would you scale this application architecture to handle a massive increase in users?
Data Structures and Algorithms (Live Coding)
- Write a program to generate the Fibonacci sequence.
- Write a program to check if a given number is prime.
Core Computer Science (OOP and OS)
- What is the fundamental difference between a process and a thread?
- Explain the concept of inheritance in Object-Oriented Programming.
Databases and SQL
- What is database normalization?
- Live SQL Coding: The interviewer described three custom data scenarios, and I had to write the exact SQL queries on the spot to retrieve the requested data.
Machine Learning
- What is the difference between Type I and Type II errors?
- In what real-world scenarios would you use Logistic Regression?
- Explain the difference between stemming and lemmatization in NLP.
4. Round 3: HR Interview
The HR round on October 8 was very straightforward. It was mostly to check communication and company fit:
- What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
- Describe a time you faced a conflict in a team setting and how you resolved it.
- What is your preferred work location?
- Are you comfortable working in afternoon or evening shifts?
For the LTIMindtree GET role, you need to know your basic CS concepts and SQL. But if you want to stand out, put good projects on your resume and know them inside out. If you can confidently explain your database and code, the interview becomes much easier. If you want to see the Course Marketplace architecture I mentioned, you can check it out on my portfolio at rajdivyanshu.in.
