How i got 500 stars on my first Open Source project

I had never shared my work online before the last three months, this taught me a lot and was a great decision.

Open Source

There are many OSS projects out-there but i wasn't sure how to start. At the time i was experimenting to build an AI chat which led to the creation of ai inputs components, and i thought why not making more?

What started initially with 20 components ended-up with more than 100+ and received continuous great feedbacks. Surprisingly, even few helpful people provided their own PR.

Sharing Online

I never built a public project before, this made me learnt a lot in the past three months, i started simply by:

  • Share my Work on X, this tweet got me a lot of views.
  • Submit PR to Awesome List on Github

This got me my first 100 stars. After that, peoples kept recommending Reddit, of course, i knew about it but had only used it for reading, never posting. Once i found the right subreddits, i made a few posts that got me a lot of visitors.

Since then, KokonutUI has gained a consistent daily traffic from different platforms and shared by many peoples!

Have a great week

Our AI agent was running 10-20 seconds slower than it should, impacting both our own developers and our early adopters. See how I used Sentry Profiling to fix it in record time.
