ChatGPT Projects is a feature that helps you keep your AI conversations and data organized. Think of Projects like folders or workspaces within ChatGPT. Instead of a long, cluttered list of unrelated chats, you can group related conversations together under a named Project. For example, you might have a "Marketing Ideas" project where all your ad copy chats live, separate from your "Learning Spanish" project with language practice chats.
What's more, Projects don't just hold chats – you can also attach files and set custom instructions specific to that project. OpenAI introduced this feature to improve workflow management: each Project can have its own context. According to First AI Movers, OpenAI added Projects so you can group related chats, files, and even prompt instructions together – essentially personal AI folders for each topic.
This means if you're working on a coding project, you can upload your code files and have all related discussions in one place, or if you're writing a report, keep the outline, sources, and drafts in one project.
